To successfully fight climate change we must improve practices in various fields. The Québec government has launched multiple programs to help municipalities and the transportation industry transition to a lower-carbon world.
ÉcoPerformance is a program designed to cut the GHG emissions of businesses, municipalities, and institutions by funding projects and measures tied to energy production and consumption, and improving industrial processes.
The residual forestry biomass program is designed to cut GHG emissions and fossil fuel consumption by funding energy conversion projects to promote the use of energy from residual forestry biomass.
Other energy efficiency programs are offered by Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles and its partners. These programs offer many different types of financial assistance.
PTMOBC provides financial support to help municipalities and businesses build facilities for treating organic waste through biomethanization and composting. The program’s aim is to cut GHG emissions and total volumes of residual materials.
This program provides support to municipalities seeking to reduce volumes of solid waste produced in their territories by providing home and community composting facilities. ACDC is designed for small or disadvantaged regional county municipalites and aboriginal communities that are not eligible for PTMOBC.
The objectives of the public transit assistance program is to support transit providers in their efforts to offer a wider range of services, facilitate public transit use and development outside major urban centers, promote alternative transportation, and fund transportation management centers.
PETMAF is designed to lower GHG emissions by improving energy efficiency of organizations and businesses in the maritime, air, and rail transportation sectors. The program promotes the use of more efficient equipment and materials and lower-GHG energy sources.
Businesses, municipalities, and organizations considering installing charging stations at the workplace may be eligible for financial assistance under this program.
PREGTI is a program designed to lower GHG emissions in the transportation of people and freight by developing intermodal projects and promoting rail and maritime transportation.
